Friday, April 5th: Stars are Born

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (March 5, 2013) – Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat has become legendary for showcasing the MMA stars of the future. Since its launch in October, 2002, ROC has launched the careers of more than 90 successful UFC fighters. Fans know that if you are looking to see the next Chris Weidman’s, Uriah Hall or Frankie Edgar then ROC is the place to be. For seven years ROC has dominated Atlantic City, NJ at their home in the Tropicana Casino Showroom.

On Friday, April 5th, The Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ will once again play host to the Ring of Combat. Scheduled for the night are 2 Championship Fights. Going up the weight classes it starts with:

The Featherweights

Deividas Taurosevicius, 16-5, is arguably one of the top Featherweights in the world. He has competed in every top event. Some up and comers have thought that he would be a stepping stone for them but he has proven that he still has it. Since September, 2011 he has held the ROC Featherweight title and has turned away some very game opponents while winning in 3 subsequent title defenses. He has definitely been in trouble in some of these fights but in every situation he has used his years of experience to make his escape and turn the fight around. Guillermo Sermant made a very impressive debut in 2012 when he pulled a quick submission against James Jenkins, who was one of ROC’s top young prospects. Guillermo has no doubt that he is returning to Chicago with the back..

The Heavyweights

Brendan Barrett made his debut with ROC in 2007. He competed in the ROC tournaments and has faced the tough competition that ROC is known for including Ricardo Romero and Costa Phillipou. He is moving up the scales to take on a very tough opponent from Brazil. Silvao Santos from Team Link has fought all of his fights in Brazil and makes his US debut at ROC. He plans on bringing back the ROC Heavyweight belt back to Brazil.

Mike Massenzio is at the crossroads of a very long and successful career. He made his start with ROC and moved to the IFL and UFC. He returned to the ROC cage last year and got caught by a very game Ronald Stallings. He faces up and comer, Ariel Sepulveda, who comes off a win against Massenzio’s teammate, Ryan Contaldi. Will Sepulveda be able to retire Massenzio or will Massenzio use Sepulveda as a stepping stone back to the greatness that he once demonstrated?

This main card is rounded out with the debut of Jared Platt, from AMA Fight Club. Jared is a top wrestling prospect and looks to be one of the next ROC stars..
